Description
Though I put it in the section "wild animals" this very hedgehog is not wild at all. There's a whole family of hedgehogs in the garden.

Well photographed !!
They are remarkably placid, but SO prickly...
Several years ago, my wife and I found one in the middle of the lane in Scotland where we were on holiday. It must have had a fright, because it just 'hunkered down', curled up and waited.
We could not just leave it there to be squidged, so I very, very carefully wriggled my hands underneath, diagonally with the 'lay' of the prickles as you would for a small 'Xmas Tree', and carried it a dozen feet off the road to the shelter of some scrub at the base of a stone wall...
When I turned away, one of the locals was stood in amazement. He'd fetched a shovel rather than tackle Mr. Prickles with gardening gloves, never mind bare handed !!
